Whitepaper and City Concepts Unveil Concept 25 at Hatton Gardens
Whitepaper, a highly regarded design and build studio based in Shoreditch, retained City Concepts to assist in the build of a 4000 sq ft floorplate in the renowned Hatton Garden district of London. In a testament to our collaborative approach, the City Team worked closely with Whitepaper executives to develop and deliver a classic aesthetic that not only aligned with the client’s desired outcomes but also adhered to the budgetary guidelines. To achieve this, the project design incorporated a blend of the client’s personal preferences and high-end bespoke options, all seamlessly integrated into the design concept developed by Whitepaper.
Through this exceptional collaborative effort, the project was successfully delivered to the highest standards of quality, resulting in an impressive office fit-out that surpassed the client’s expectations. Despite operating within the established budgetary framework, the end product was a testament to the team’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and delivering outstanding results for our clients.
One of the primary project requirements stipulated achieving exceptional results within a tight six-week timeline. Leveraging our in-house manufacturing capabilities and a highly skilled team of production and project management experts, we successfully delivered the £70,000 project within the specified timeframe. The Bindery space at Hatton Gardens was essentially an empty shell, which proved advantageous in expediting the project within the tight 6-week timeline. However, it presented some unique challenges that had to be carefully navigated
In particular, all doors had to be accurately measured before the bulkheads were constructed, to ensure that the project timeline was met with no delays or snags. This approach helped to optimise efficiency and minimise disruptions, thus enabling the project team to deliver the final product on schedule and to the highest standards of quality.
The space is thoughtfully designed to provide ample room for both employees and visitors, featuring a reception area, two conference rooms, an open office work area where all team members, including management, sit together, and a kitchen/entertaining area.
Each area within the office space has been meticulously designed to serve a specific function, rather than allowing for multi-purpose usage, thereby ensuring optimal efficiency and practicality. This thoughtful approach has resulted in a serene and highly functional office environment.
To preserve the aesthetic appeal of the space, the floor was pre-finished with solid oak planks, making it susceptible to scratches and dents that would require sanding and re-oiling of the affected areas. Through close collaboration with the project team and other site contractors, City Concepts ensured that the floor remained in pristine condition throughout the project, with no damages incurred. As part of the design process, we collaborated with Whitepaper and the client to create a unique recessed handle detail in the timber doors that seamlessly integrated with the aluminium frames. This design feature, which emerged from a series of productive design workshops, resulted in a flush finish that added to the overall sophistication of the space.
The final touches to this remarkable office space included the installation of Concept 25 single glazed partitions featuring acoustic glazing and ‘crittal’ style horizontal and vertical banding. The resulting effect is an undeniably timeless aesthetic that elevates the overall design.
In keeping with the cohesive design, the RS32 single glazed hinged doors with slide arm closers, complemented by back-to-back cranked pull handles from @Franchi, were added, seamlessly integrating into the design concept. The space was further enhanced by the addition of a stand-alone screen with low level modesty panels, finished in RAL 9010, which further elevates the already impressive aesthetic, bringing the overall design to the highest standards of excellence.
