City Concepts is proud to spotlight the Titchfield Street project as our Space of the Month for November. Delivered over a fast-paced two-week timeline, this 8,000 sq. ft. commercial space in London’s West End brought together some of the most innovative minds in design and construction.
Our role as the glazing contractor was integral to the transformation, ensuring the perfect balance of functionality, style, and technical precision. Collaborating closely with BW and IID, this project is a testament to the power of partnerships in achieving design excellence.
Crafted to Perfection. Concept54 Partitions and RS62 Doors in Action
City Concepts was tasked with supplying and installing bespoke glazed partitions and doors, tailored to the client’s specific requirements. Leveraging our Concept Systems and technical expertise, we ensured the installation met both design aspirations and the practical needs of the space.
Concept54 Double-Glazed Partitions These partitions were engineered with ‘crittal’-style flat bar banding for a bold, industrial look. The incorporation of low-level reeded privacy film balanced transparency with discretion, ideal for creating versatile working environments that feel open yet private.
RS62 Single-Glazed Hinged Doors Designed for seamless integration with the partitions, these doors were fitted with cranked black pull handles, hinges, and door closers for durability and ease of use. The doors also featured access control mag locks, a critical element coordinated with the security subcontractor to ensure smooth functionality.
RAL 1035 Pearl Beige Finish The partitions and doors were coated in this refined, understated shade, aligning with the overall aesthetic vision of the designers. This choice elevated the space with a cohesive, modern finish.
Challenges Met with Precision.
The Titchfield Street project presented several unique challenges that required meticulous planning and collaboration to resolve. One key requirement was ensuring the doors met a 1000mm clear opening, both to align with the designer’s detailed setting-out requirements and to provide adequate access for all users. Achieving this demanded precise coordination to ensure the screens and doors were perfectly aligned without compromising the overall design.
Adding to the complexity was the location of the space on the lower ground floor. Transporting large-format doors and partitions into the building and down to the installation site required careful logistical planning. By working closely with the on-site teams, City Concepts ensured the components were delivered and installed seamlessly despite the access limitations.
The integration of access control systems further underscored the importance of collaboration. The doors incorporated magnetic locks, requiring close liaison with the access control and security subcontractor. This ensured the system was smoothly installed and fully operational, blending advanced functionality with the sleek design of the doors.
